It's understood a property which recently sold in Clyde St, Balclutha, has been bought by Progressive Enterprises, the Australian company behind the Fresh Choice, Supervalue and Countdown franchises in New Zealand.

The company wouldn't comment when asked by the Otago Daily Times, but released a statement.

Clutha Mayor Bryan Cadogan says he's heard rumours about a new Fresh Choice supermarket in the town, but couldn't comment further.
