A Milton family is at the mercy of floods, which sweep into their house every couple of years.

When the Lambert family bought their cottage in 2006, it had been 15 years since the last big flood hit the South Otago town.

Since then, they've tried many ways to mitigate the situation, but have faced obstacles at every turn.

RNZ reporter, Tess Brunton, visited the Lambert's at their Milton home.
