South Otago crews from Kaitangata and Balclutha were called out to a shed fire in Kaitangata this morning.

Kaitangata deputy chief fire officer Dwayne Thompson says they arrived at the Christchurch Street property at ten thirty to find a totally involved blaze.

The crews brought the fire under control quickly, avoiding damage to neighbouring property

Thompson says thanks to a quick response, the incident was dealt with safely, and no members of the public were endangered.

He says it's too early to ascertain the cause of the fire.
