The Queenstown Lakes District Council says the Glenorchy Road has been reopened to traffic.

The road was initially opened just after three o’clock this afternoon but was later closed around 4.30pm due to a flare up in the fire. Four helicopter crews were fighting the blaze.

Power to Glenorchy however is still out.
