Dunedin runner Mel Aitken has won another national title.

She was first across the line in the masters section of the New Zealand road running championships held in Tauranga.

Aitken also gave younger competitors a run for their money, with the third fastest time overall.

She ran the 5km course in 18 minutes flat.

Aitken also recently claimed the New Zealand masters cross country title.

She works as a police inspector in the central Dunedin station.
