Police believe a series of burglaries from one end of the Clutha District to the other are linked.

Senior Constable Murray Hewitson says three holiday homes at Toko Mouth, Nuggets Rd, and in Dewe Rd, were burgled and it appears the incidents are connected.

All three properties targeted were vacant holiday homes which are isolated from the public eye.

The method of breaking and entering into each of the homes was the same and similar items, including television sets and kitchen items, were removed.

A man presented a gun at police after a car chase in South Otago last night.

Police say the man failed to stop in Balclutha about 7.20 last night.

Police believe the 27-year-old had a firearm, so the Armed Offenders Squad was called as a precaution.

The man eventually came to a stop and got out of the vehicle, where he has presented a firearm at police.

No shots were fired, and the man was taken safely into custody.

Fonterra shareholders have chosen to not go through the Self Nomination process this year for the company board.

The process, where farmers can stand as a candidate for the Board with the support of 35 different shareholders, closed last Thursday.

John Monaghan, Brent Goldsack and Andy Macfarlane were announced last week as the Independent Nomination Process candidates.

All three candidates were nominated by the Fonterra Board after being recommended by the Independent Selection Panel.

Walker held the seat with an election-night majority of 13,005 votes.
