A prominent kiwi astrophotographer says Southland has some of the best dark sky viewing in the world, and is backing the push for a Dark Sky Sanctuary for the region.

Doctor Stephen Voss joined Venture Southland in a Dark Skies meeting last night to promote the benefits of preserving the region's night sky.
