A disabled man’s specially modified car was stolen from Kaitangata on Tuesday night.

Brodie Cook's white Holden VT Commodore was later found burnt out at the Wangaloa domain.

However, the story has now taken a positive turn with Taieri Automotive owner Steve Grant offering to cover the cost of modifying the replacement car.

One part of Mr Grant’s trade is to modify vehicles to accommodate for disabilities.

When Mr Cook learnt of the offer, he said he was "stunned".
