The long-term future of Owaka residents' healthcare has been secured as the Catlins Medical Centre has been sold to its operating board.

The Catlins Medical Centre Ltd board purchased the practice from general practitioner Dr Alison Cook to ensure health services remain available to people in the area.

Cook says she made the decision to sell the practice so there would be a smooth transition of health services when she decides to retire.
