The Lawrence Tuapeka Community Board has approved a request to install a public drinking fountain in Ross Pl.
Of three options presented, the approved design includes a water bottle filling station and dog bowl in addition to the standard drinking fountain.
The board was impressed with the way it incorporates a gold pan for the bowl, which fits in with the town's historic ties to gold mining.
The cost of the fountain is estimated to be $3595, with about $1500 for installation.
