A Tokomairiro High School pupil performed a record-setting javelin throw at the Otago Athletics Championships on Saturday.

14 year old Ethan Walker, of Milton, outclassed his competitors by almost 15 metres with a winning throw of 48.72 metres.

The throw was an Otago under-15 javelin record.

Ethan will travel to Sydney to compete in the Australian championships in a few weeks.
