Tourism continues to be a booming business throughout the country, with visitor arrivals remaining high.

Just over a quarter of a million tourists entered New Zealand last month, setting a new April record.

That's an increase of 8% compared to last April, with a 40% rise in visitors from China.

In the last 12 months tourist arrivals hit a record 3.27m, up 11% on the previous year.

The number of New Zealanders taking overseas trips is also increasing, up 6%.
