A local woman has been selected for a high performance squad of the country's top weightlifters.
Amanda Gould is one of 10 women in the training team, chosen by Olympic Weightlifting New Zealand.
She and the other athletes are working towards participation in the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Gould works for the Highlanders and has competed overseas, representing New Zealand in last year's Pacific Games and Oceania championships.
The 29-year-old has qualified for this year's Oceania competition, to be held in Fiji in May, but is awaiting final team selection.
