New Zealanders are earning more money than a year ago, according to the latest statistics.

The average weekly income is up $26.

Half of all people aged 15 years and older earn more than $600 a week.

Hourly earnings have also risen, in their biggest hike in six years.

More people in full-time employment is one reason for the increase.
