A Southland team of film-makers have once again made it to the grand finals of the 48 Hour Film Competition.

Team Super Furious Ninja Dragons were yesterday announced as a wild-card entry into the grand-finals for the second year running.

Invercargill Police have released the name of the alleged shooter that left a fifty two year old man hospitalised last month.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for Anthony Miles Tamaiti Watkins.

Detective Senior Sergeant Stu Harvey says the warrant is for the shooting of a 52-year-old man on Kelvin Street in Invercargill on Saturday June 30th.

Watkins is 24-years of age and approximately 167 centimetres tall.

Police say he can be unpredictable, and are warning against approaching him.

They say Watkins has connections to Invercargill, Dunedin and the Bay of Plenty.

The victim is still in Southland Hospital recovering and it's unknown how long it will be before he is released.

The best young farmers from around the country gathered in Invercargill today for the official briefing of the FMG Young Farmer of the Year grand final.

The competition, in its 50th year, will see seven young farmers take on a diverse range of farming challenges over two days to see who comes out on top.

An Invercargill school is set to perform a complex piece of musical theatre over the next four nights.

James Hargest College will take on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita for their school production, making them just the second high school in New Zealand to do so.
