A Central Otago District Council spokesman is warning that anyone caught illegally felling trees on council-owned land can expect to be slapped with a criminal charge.

The Council says the problem is ongoing and it is now taking a stronger stance.

Gore designer Andre Johnston has won the supreme award at Central Otago’s WoolOn Creative Fashion Event with a hand-embroidered dress that took hundreds of hours to make.

It's the first time the thirty seven year old has entered the show, and she wasn't the only one in her family to be recognised on the night.

Children attending the Naseby Luge Camp have had to resort to practising on the Maniototo Ice Rink as the luge track remains closed due to weather conditions.
